and in the garden. I love Halloween at home. My favorite part is greeting the trick-or-treaters that happen by the house. I don't generally get many, the trek down my cul-de-sac may seem over-whelming when there is no guarantee of candy. But the few that venture my way are rewarded with fistfuls of candy. I can't risk having leftovers. Too tempting.
One of my favorite parts of Halloween is decorating.
This headstone was made my Jason when he was in fifth grade - I put it out every year. I also love this terracotta jack-o-lantern. I didn't feel up to carving pumpkins this year - I think this works.
I love changing my flags with the seasons. Sometimes, when the wind is blowing, I think the flapping of the flag keeps Eric up. I had to hunt my flag down today - it was hiding in the garage! Tomorrow will be spent raking leaves. My maple has lost most of its leaves and the birch trees have been nearly naked for over a week.
Today the weather was warm. I was able to open the windows and let the fresh air in. There was a mild breeze and the sound of the wind chimes echoed through the house. A real treat on this Halloween.
The final treat for the day is that the roses are still blooming, like crazy.
Most of today was spent enjoying the great weather, indoors. Cleaning, finally packing away the summer clothes, doing laundry and packing for my trip to Portland next week - that's what has been occupying my time today. The breeze is still blowing and the evening is still warm. Hoping for a few more trick-or-treaters. Have a great Halloween!
