Abby hosted a Royal Wedding Party complete with tea, finger sandwiches and royal favors. We had such fun and had ring side seats to the big event.

It was such fun to gather with friends to celebrate a happy occasion. Lucky me, I got to attend two weddings in one week, and one was my own!
I don’t generally do weddings or bachelorette parties. Well, that was until I got married last week. Seems there has been a flurry of activity this week regarding the nuptials of a certain young royal couple. This past Tuesday I joined my friend Naya and her Red Hat Ladies for Kate’s bachelorette party. What a hoot it was!
Once I heard that Naya had gotten herself on the cover of the Sunday paper, I couldn’t resist attending her party for Kate.
Kate was so very surprised! Especially when she discovered Will was in attendance also!
The folks from the B101 morning show also attended. Actually, it was Team Tiffany looking for a few votes for her R21K race against Michael. I am sure you caught a glimpse of me on their website from my post the other evening.
In typical Naya fashion, there were games and prizes. Imagine winning a frog that, when placed in water for three days, turns into a prince! I missed out on that one. Good thing I already found my prince! There were even little favors filled with hugs and kisses. The chocolate kind!
The highlight of the evening, next to the pin the dollar on the Prince, might just have been the kazoo version of the British National Anthem. No one plays a kazoo quite like Marianne!
Well, I am in receipt of an invitation to a special viewing of the royal wedding so, having now attended one bachelorette party and taking on the starring role in my own nuptials, I believe I must admit. I do do weddings. You will find me in the royal box with my camera taking photos of all those royal rituals.
I could not wait to share with you my little something blue. My little friend, Miss Morgan, lent me an earring. Just one. The other one is MIA. But, one was all I needed. It was the perfect addition to my wedding outfit. You see, it was blue. Not only that, it was also in the shape of my favorite flower, a daisy.
It was perfect. I just loved that I had something to remind me of my first grade buddies as I celebrated my marriage to Mark.
Okay, perhaps I cheated, but I borrowed a dollar. I was told to place it in my shoe, and I was told she wanted it back. Really Naya, you want it back?
You see, this dollar really traveled that night. It was with me as Jason walked me down the stairway outside to the path through the garden...
It was with me as I walked in the rain to the front porch...
It was with me through the ceremony, vows, rings and kiss!
After dinner and cake, Mark and I headed back to the bed and breakfast. I slipped off my shoes and stuck to the bottom of my foot was the dollar bill! Just to be sure I will ask Naya again, “Are you sure you want this dollar back?” I guess, in all honesty, in order to be borrowed it needs to be returned, but really?
I think you know how much I enjoyed getting ready for my wedding. I am a sucker for all things hokey and traditional. So I must go back to the rhyme. Yesterday I posted about my Something Old. Today, it is all about the Something New, which was just about everything!
My dress was definitely new. Don’t you love this photo of Jason and I. You would never guess that we were walking in the rain. Well, not actually rain, more of a slow drizzle!
My necklace and earrings were also definitely new. I love this photo taken of Jason and Jessica with me before the wedding ceremony. Oh, the rings, they were also new.
Finally, my shoes were new...
The dollar in the shoe, however, was most definitely not new! More about that tomorrow!
It wasn’t until Monday evening, when I was trying to salvage some of the flowers from my bouquet, that I realized I actually did have something old with me at my wedding. The actual ribbons that were used in my bouquet were ribbons I had found in my stash that exactly matched my wedding dress. When we stopped at the florist on Monday afternoon, Julie asked if I would mind if she used them in the bouquet. How pretty they looked!
I don’t know if I mentioned how much I loved my bouquet. I had wanted something that looked organic in design. I wanted a collection of flowers that looked hand picked and they really did. There were white tulips as well as white hydrangea. Tiny pink heirloom roses added a bit of color. There were also many flowers that I was not familiar with, like this...

I love the pale pink peony!
And I love this tiny flower, although I am not quite sure what to call it.
It looks rather large in the photo, but it was actually very small when compared to the peonies and even the tulips!
My bouquet was gorgeous, I wish I could have saved it just the way it looked on the day I got married!
There you have it, all along I had something old (other than myself) and I didn’t even realize.
Week 12 began on the Saturday that Mark and I met in North Carolina. We hadn’t seen each other since January, it was a sweet reunion.
There was much to do to plan for the wedding. We met with our minister, Karen and with our florist, Michele. We spent some time at the bed and breakfast and tried out a few new restaurants.
We looked at property and scoped out a few areas that we had been interested in. We watched a couple of movies and just enjoyed being together. My sister is a terrific hostess and we always enjoy our visits with her and William.
Monday brought early flights back to our respective homes. I love the photo of Mark’s flight status in the upper left hand corner, below.
The rest of Week 12 seemed pretty low key. Tutoring and quilting. I received the freshwater pearl necklace that Mark bought me to wear on our wedding day and some of my friends from work gave me a surprise shower. Small, intimate and just perfect.
of Spring Break that is! I cannot believe how quickly time flew this week. We had a great week that culminated with the celebration of our marriage.
I was thrilled that Jason and Jessica were able to share this special day with Mark and I.
I was thrilled that my dear friend Melanie was able to join us.
I was thrilled with our wedding cake, not only was it delicious, but I cannot believe that they were able to take a quilt block that I designed and stitch it into the side of the cake. Great chocolate cake, great frosting!
I also love the details with the flowers and the sentiments that Mark had written on the cake.

My bouquet was stunning. It looks like the flowers were fresh picked and simply gathered together.
All of the arrangements were absolutely gorgeous!
I was thrilled that we were able to spend time with my sister Suzy and my nephew William!
I was thrilled that my little friend Morgan lent me her blue daisy earring for my something blue!
I must say, the only thing I was not thrilled with this week, is that Mark and I needed to say good-bye at the airport today...

Spending time with the family, drinking beer, tasting wine and enjoying each other’s company.
Time spent at the Silk Hope Winery was a hoot! We really enjoyed Lala and look forward to going back.
A quick trip to the airport to drop off Jason and Jessica tested my ability to do a self-portrait with four - I am good!
A quick visit to Jordan Lake for a hike and visit to the beach. Finally, a night out on the town in Chapel Hill. Dinner at Lantern was just delicious. I should have taken pictures! We even ordered dessert! Perfect meal for our last evening together. Our self-portrait is a little out of focus, but that just about explains how we were tonight!
It’s a shame we will head back to our respective homes tomorrow - hoping that we find ourselves living together sometime soon!

The only day it rained during our entire trip - today. Of course that didn’t dampen our spirits! I also forgot my shawl and ended up wearing Mark’s shirt as we walked in the rain to our wedding celebration!
