Today our service organization, South Jersey for Change, volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Camden. Our job was to prepare dinner for the 40 or so guests that currently reside at the house. Eleven of our members volunteered and prepared a meal that was out of this world. Everything from grilled chicken and veggie burgers, baked beans, grilled squash, fresh peaches and a multitude of other dishes not limited to salads and pasta. Truly, our members out did themselves once again. The best part of the evening, sharing time and laughing together while providing a very much appreciated service.
Ronald McDonald House provides a safe haven for families with children suffering from catastrophic illness. We met families dealing with infant heart disease, cancer and other life threatening diseases. How blessed we were to serve and have the opportunity to put our own lives and issues in perspective. We are truly the benefactors of this type of service.
I consider myself blessed to be a part of such a committed group of people that believe, collectively, we can truly make a difference.
