The final day of school before the break - thank goodness it was a half day. I was quickly running out of time and having to spend any time at work was really cutting into my holiday preparations!
We had a great half day. Threw out the lesson plans and decided to spend time creating holiday and thank you cards to send to a Marine battalion stationed in Afghanistan. I have such a thoughtful and considerate class this year and their cards were heartfelt and sincere. They enjoyed making the cards and were trying to think of ways to show their appreciation to the brave soldiers stationed overseas. Our short day ended with a holiday celebration and pizza!
A short visit home allowed me to collect gifts and wrapping paraphernalia. Mark drove me out to my mom's so that my sister Suz could run some errands. I wrapped quite a few gifts while mom and I spent the later part of the afternoon chatting and listening to Christmas music.
My errand running began when Suzy returned. I had a short, but very specific list. Once I crossed off the last items on my list I was starving. Mark was just finishing up his shopping and we met for a very quick informal dinner a Panera before heading home to accomplish something.
To be honest, not much was accomplished once we did get home. Oh, we did watch "It's a Wonderful Life" and I did catch up on some blog posts, you know, task avoidance. I am a pro at it.
We enjoyed the movie and vowed to start Friday by 10am. The time we thought would allow us to accomplish all that needed to be done. You know what they say about the best laid plans!
