Week Eleven, can you believe it? I sure can't. Time really seems to be flying by...Week 11 was a very full week. It was the week of our first 5K, the talent show at school and a night at the movies! Busy, busy.
Sunday we ran the course that Mark mapped out for us. But, after finishing, we realized that it was not quite the 3.2 that we thought it was. Mark set out to figure a new route and we made a plan for the rest of the week.Monday we walked the entire course. It took us 52 minutes so we knew it was pretty darn close to the route we needed. We actually took the car out and measured and yup, 3.2 miles, exactly. So Tuesday, we ran it. Well, I walked twice, but Mark managed to run the entire length.
Wednesday, Hugo 3D. We had rented Hugo the week before and loved it. We were curious to see it in 3D because of the great camera shots through the gears of the clock, the train station, and windows. We were not disappointed.
Thursday, more running and then off to school for the Talent Show.
Friday, a day at school without students. We drove up to Bordentown to pick up our bibs and then it was home for a dinner loaded with carbs. My pasta sauce over penne, yum!Trying to simplify the process of pulling all of this together for Project Life, I decided to use a 6x12 page protector to hold the program for the talent show. Another 8 1/2 x 11 insert for our bib numbers and the associated ephemera from the race, the chips we wore on our shoes and the print out of the race results for my age group. Notice that I made the top ten of women in my age group. There is an advantage to being over 50!
The next insert is a We R Memory Makers five photo page protector. This holds six 4x6 photos horizontally and four 4x6 photos vertically.
One of the vertical 4x6 slots was empty, and I think I will use that to include some thoughts from the day. It was really exciting being part of a bigger event. Everyone is performing for themselves and, to be a part of that is really fulfilling. I was surprised at my pace time, under eleven minutes. I am really looking forward to our next race.
One of the horizontal slots was used to hold our "official" race results as they were presented by bib number. The bottom photo is a picture I took of the comment my daughter made on my facebook post. "AMAZING!"
I just love that there is a place to hold all of this "stuff". Whether or not it will stay here, I just don't know. But, at least I know where to find it; just in case I decide to eventually create a scrapbook dedicated to our race events.
Seems as though many people, this week especially, are embracing the simple side of Project Life. I tried to do that and not get so wrapped up in who's doing what creatively. The bottom line is that this is for my family and I. No one else. So, getting the stories told and the memories saved is what it is all about. I am going to link up over at One Happy Mama and also the Mom Creative. I was able to catch a peek of Jenny's week and I also stopped by Ali's blog tonight. I just love seeing everyone's week!
In case you are interested, Project Life is a product created by Becky Higgins and you can find out more about it by heading to her website. I encourage you to give it a try, perhaps you too will fall in love with the process.
