Sunday

As far as I'm concerned, Sunday is the best day of the week. I rarely, if ever, venture from home. And, I like it that way. Today was just that way.After a fitful night, terrible dreams, I did manage to sleep late. Ten-oh-oh. That's what I used to say when my children were little. I started the day with fruit and sewing. Is there any better way?

Then the rest of the day unfolded much like any other springtime Sunday. Change the sheets, do the laundry, mow the lawn, fold the laundry, weed the garden, cook dinner...

I just love the rituals of a Sunday spent at home, especially when it ends with a fierce thunderstorm like tonight! After a bit of sewing for relaxation I will be off to bed, ready to face the upcoming week. Just eleven more days of school this year!

Celebrating Mom

Just a little late. But, our schedules were just a wee bit busy at the beginning of May. We decided to switch Mother's Day to the beginning of June and it worked out just fine!Mom and I met for lunch at the Robin's Nest in Mount Holly. We love to have lunch there, so refreshing. The food is reliably good and the chance to sit and relax is priceless.

After lunch we took a leisurely stroll up High Street which was unusually quiet. It was a gorgeous spring day here and we had a great time catching up and sharing stories. Afterwards we both had errands to run. Mom to Target and me, well, the quilt shop. Surprise!Thrilled we had the opportunity to get together!

And this is where I am.

I am not unhappy to be here, just a bit over-whelmed. I love to swim, but freestyle and a 1/2 mile freestyle at that, over-whelmed is an understatement. But tonight it seemed that things were finally beginning to click.

Jackie, my tri-buddy, and I began the evening with a warm-up. One lap side stroke each side. Then we moved onto two laps of the breast stroke. The last phase of our warm-up was something new for us. We used the noodles we found by the pool and did a couple of laps just working on our breathing. What a difference that seemed to make. 

Our freestyle laps were less stressful and we found the breathing a little more manageable. We completed 20 laps tonight, more than a quarter mile, and felt really proud of our accomplishment. So, on Wednesday and Friday, this is where you will find us!
