Thursday I raced home from the beach to swim the 1150 yards, in sprints, that my training program called for. Once home, as I was getting on my suit, the sky changed dramatically.Jackie, my training partner, called and blamed me for bringing the storm on us. She accused me of praying for lightening so that the pool would be closed.
Now, in Jackie's defense, the old me certainly would have done anything to get out of training.
The new me, on the other hand, is working from an entirely different perspective. Right at this moment, because I am spending five days at the beach working, my training schedule is a wreck. Yesterday was to have been a run/bike training day. I did the run but need to reschedule the bike. Tonight was swim sprints, 1,150 yards of sprints. Lightening caused the closing of the pool which is causing me to reschedule my swim. Friday, a run, which I can handle at the beach. Saturday, a bike, which will also need to be rescheduled since I cannot manage to load my bike up on my car before 6:30 in the morning which is when I leave for work.
That's how it goes...
It is much easier to do the recommended training on the scheduled days. Trying to fit in a training reschedule, in an already packed training schedule is just craziness.
From this perspective, the swim would have been so much easier with the lightening, at least it would have gotten done!
