Absolutely. There is nothing better than having a plan to finish a project, especially one that has been hanging around for three years. But tonight, there is a plan for finishing, and that feels good. The first step was finishing each of the three t-shirt panels with a narrow, unifying border. Next, I added sashing between those three panels, a beautiful batik in blues and purples. I added pieces of Jess' work t-shirts in the sashings. I think that helps to tie the whole quilt together.
This is a better picture for seeing the sashing. Next step will be to add a small inner border around the entire quilt that is the same fabric and same width as the sashings. Finally, I will add a wider outer border in the same dark batik that I added around the t-shirt panels. In the corners I will include squares from a few of the t-shirts. They are little pieces from either the front of the t-shirts or sleeves that have some sayings on them and they will be the cornerstones that finish the quilt.
I bought the backing fabric and batting while I was out with my friend Robin. Her quilt is ready for the quilter, mine will be ready by next week. We are so close to being finished. It feels so good!
