Yup, I collect lots of things. My greatest collection is my scrapbooking supplies and my fabric collection is second to none.
So why I felt the need to start collecting Starbucks mugs, I will never know. But, I must admit, I love them.
Two weeks ago, when I landed in Miami, my first stop was at Starbucks. Yup, I got my mug and a venti chai latte!
Back in the day, I was collecting the "old" version of mug which featured a city scape of the featured city in a blue/violet line drawing. Those mugs actually match my kitchen decor with a blue and white theme. But, during my trip to Seattle in 2009, I was told that those mugs will not be made any longer.
So, I did the only thing I could do, I bought the new style mug. My "new" styled Pikes Place mug has been joined by many other cities. Fortunately for me, I do get to travel. I picked up the DC mug during an authorization visit in 2010. Philly I picked up right here in Voorhees. Dallas was sent to me by my sister-in-law, Karen and Chicago was picked up for me by Mark as he switched planes this past fall. He tried to pick up a St.Louis mug while he was there, but apparently they no longer carry it at the airport Starbucks. What a bummer!
My favorite part about the Starbuck's mugs is their size. A full 16 ounces. I use them for everything from water, to soda and yes, even tea. But I never use them for coffee, I am just not a fan of that beverage.
There are many cities that I have visited where I just didn't find the corresponding mug. For instance, Seattle. They actually have two mugs featuring Seattle, one sporting a ferry boat and the other picturing Rainier. I have neither one after spending a whole summer there. What's with that?
I also do not have a North Carolina mug, and I was married there just about a year ago. I spent an entire day sightseeing in Charlotte and do not have a mug from there either!
Really, if I were to recount the number of mugs I do not own, you would think that I am not such a good collector. (Although I think my husband might disagree with that!)
I do have three mugs featuring New York, the old style in blue, the new style which features the Statue of Liberty and is green (?) and then my favorite of all my Starbucks' mugs...This mug, from 2008, was bought for me by my sister Jen during our annual holiday weekend in NY. I just love the holiday scene and I love that it has the date. It is a daily reminder of a wonderful family tradition.
Well, as I get ready to head to bed for the evening I notice Philadelphia, holding my water. I will pine for the missing mugs while I continue to enjoy the mugs I do own!
