Last night, Mark and I headed over to Philly to meet up with Jason at Monk's Cafe. Even though it was the evening of his birthday, he was working. Since he couldn't come out with us, we joined him. What fun we had. Drinking beer at Monk's, hanging out across from Doobies, riding shotgun in his new car and then dinner at REX 1516. Fun. Energizing. Exhausting. Everyone was celebrating Jason's birthday. Everyone was celebrating Jason.
The common theme for the evening, "he is a blessing." Many people sought me out, introduced themselves to me and then let me know how happy they were that I had Jason that day, 28 years ago. "Thank you," they said, "We just love him."
How it warms my heart.
The truth is, I knew what a gift he was from the very moment he was born. I consider myself very fortunate to have been chosen to be his mother. I have been awesomely blessed with this little family of mine. And, we in turn, have been blessed to have each other. Here's to Jason and Jessica with a special thank you for making me the person I am today.
