This time of year I am quick to leave work at the end of the day. Today, there was a quick stop at the supermarket and then Panera for dinner with my hubby. Our tree-trimming party is quickly becoming a non-event.
I had promised a dear friend, celebrating a bittersweet holiday, that I would host our traditional party before I realized how many people would not be around for this weekend. Then there were report cards and physical therapy and a sore throat. Festive is not a word I would use to describe myself. But tonight, after a quick nap, I got to work on the decorations and things are looking a bit more Christmassy around here.
I am still struggling with lights that won't light and missing decorations, but regardless, the house is flaunting that holiday twinkle! My friend will have the seat of honor at our party, whatever it turns out to be, should she decide to come.
Christmas is a difficult time to deal with the loss of a friend or a family member. Wishing my friend peace and the quiet comfort of memories during this season.
