Well, it never really went anywhere, but after putting all of Christmas away it really does feel like I have my house back. In reality, the only things that were left to go away were the trees, just 6 of them. What a difference it makes, just take a look.
It actually looks spacious from this angle. I took this photo from the loft, on Wednesday evening.
As I made my way down the stairs I felt compelled to take another shot of the whole room - such space!
This is probably my favorite view of the room. I was sitting in my wing chair, just below the stairs. In the spring and summer I open the lace panel and the sliding door and have a beautiful view of our patio.
That rustic piece of furniture is one of my favorites. Look at how open the stairs look without the trees on the hutch and the landing. I really think it was the open feeling of this room that sold Jess and I on the house when we first saw it that chilly January, 13 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long!
When I sit on the couch, this is what I see. While I love Christmas and having the house all trimmed, I am really beginning to appreciate having our space back. It feels less cluttered and more open.
Even upstairs, where I do most of my school work and of course all of my crafting, the absence of Christmas has made a difference.
I am really not a fan of snow days, but right now I am so thankful for the snow day and the opportunity to spend time putting away the decorations and cleaning. On June 20th remind me of this when I start complaining about still being in school!
