I was wandering around the internet, searching for something, when I came across The Late Night Quilter's blog. Not sure how I ended up here, but it is there that I learned about the Supernova Friendship Block Swap. The Supernova is the quilt in the above picture. The quilt was designed by Lee and offered in a quilt-along in 2011. You can see that blog post here. Stephanie, of One Million Stitches and Sandra have organized the swap and I think it's a fabulous idea.
Always up for a challenge, I decided to sign myself up. I added a comment to Stephanie's blog and hoped for the best. Then I took myself over to pinterest and found so much Supernova inspiration! As of today I have a partner, Julie, who lives in Salt Lake City.
We are scheduled to have our first blocks completed by the middle of June so we are heavy into fabric selection. We need to decide on a background color together and then a couple of coordinating colors for each of our blocks. When we make a block, we will make two. One we keep and one we sent off to our new friend. I am so excited about this project. Right now we are scouring pinterest for some color suggestions and pulling together a collection of favorites. We are currently leaning towards the following, using a tan, or natural solid as the background. I will let you know what we decide and show you our progress as we get going. This is going to be so much fun!
