Today I am pitching the Collingswood Book Festival which will take place this Saturday, October 11th. This is one of our favorite fall events and this year Mark will be working the booth sponsored by the South Jersey Writers' Group. They will be selling their anthology of speculative fiction entitled, Reading Glasses.
This is what our couch looked like as I folded the t-shirts for the group. As I turn off the light in the living room every shirt is bagged and tagged. A job well done.
This is a very busy weekend for us. In addition to the book festival, Saturday is also the date for Bloktoberfest in South Philly. It takes place on South Street, between Broad and 18th. The event is free, but if you would like to drink beer, it is best to buy a bracelet online. It will run from noon until 8pm. I have volunteered the past two years and it is always a good time. Last year we were there for nearly the entire event. It was good fun!
Jason works for Bella Vista Beer Distributors, one of the sponsors of the event. He spends a good part of his day organizing volunteers, moving kegs from one place to another and basically troubleshooting all kinds of issues. I am looking forward to Saturday. It is always a good time when I get to see and support Jason for a terrific cause. The event is not for profit, with beer proceeds directed back into a variety of neighborhood initiatives addressing education, green space and public safety. If you are interested in volunteering, let me know. If you just want to join in the fun, stop by South Street and say hi! I will be pouring beer!
