It just couldn’t be helped. Bunkey was having such a good time, and I needed to bear witness to the enchantment created by one of my best buddies! The reception for her first gallery show was from 5 to 7 yesterday and she was on her feet the entire time.
So many people stopped by, it was heartwarming. Above you see Bunkey explaining her art quilts to her former colleagues. People came to show their support and Bunkey was really feeling the love. Several of my friends, who didn’t even know Bunkey, stopped by. That made Bunkey’s evening. By the time 7pm rolled around she didn’t want the feeling to end. So, we hopped in our cars and caravaned our way to dinner. Yup, the party didn’t end, it moved.
Vera, the watercolor artist featured in the room next to Bunkey's stopped by to congratulate her and we had such a fun time comparing stories and inspiration. I think Bunkey and I even signed up to be in Vera’s next round of watercolor classes! There is always some new adventure on the horizon.
I think my favorite part of the evening was when one of my other bff’s, Naya, showed up. I never would have imagined that I would end up with one eccentric friend, but two? It was a hoot seeing them together. Naya suggested that they start the art for the next 14 kisses exhibit, Bunkey's theme for the evening, and I captured it on film.
These ladies are simply the best and I am blessed to have them as my friends.
Bunkey was radiant the entire evening. I am so grateful to everyone for showing up and cheering my dear friend on. The show runs until the end of the month at the Center for Art of Southern New Jersey, Elmwood Road in Marlton. Stop by and sign her guest book. She would love to know you were there.
