It’s official, the zucchini is done. By the looks of it, the cucumbers will probably be next. I think that our plan will be a little different next year. The cucumbers did not do well right by the hedge. The zucchini did well enough to give us quite a few loaves of bread and grilled zucchini dinners. Not to mention that there are still 2.5 rather large zucchinis left.
We’re hoping for a few tomoatoes before the season is over, but the majority of our tomatoes have developed Blossom-End Rot which is caused by a calcium deficiency. I guess it runs in the family! It is caused by uneven watering or too much watering at the beginning of the season. I am guessing that the rain storms we experienced are to blame. Hoping that our five plants will yield some fruit, I am craving home grown tomatoes!
The five pepper plants are doing spectacular. We have harvested a few but I am really waiting for the orange and red peppers to come in. Ahhh, fresh produce in the summer. I don’t think there is anything better.
