Actually, they are not quite second graders just yet! Today started my summer school experience. I have about 23 soon to be second graders and they are a fun group. I over planned our day, of course. Tonight I finished up the windsocks for a few of my little friends.
The children were thrilled with them and I am quite pleased myself. When we spoke about the 4th of July, many of the students stated that watching fireworks was their favorite part of the holiday. So tomorrow, you guessed it, we are painting fireworks.
Isn’t this a great use of all those leftover bendy straws? I can’t take credit, I saw it on Pinterest! But just look at how cool they turn out...
This is just my sample. Tomorrow I will add white paint and shake glitter over the wet paint so that the white parts sparkle. I think they will look cool and the students will be amazed at what they created. I need to get myself organized for tomorrow and start planning fun activities for next week!
