Now, I have never seen Up, but for some reason this really resonated with me. Too often we say that we want this kind of love. But in all honesty, in order to receive a love of this magnitude, we need to be willing to love in the same manner. I know for me, that was a part of what I didn't understand.
Last night Mark and I watched "Yours, Mine and Ours" with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. The scene below is one that I have always remembered.
Today I thought about all of the things that I "thought" love was. Going back all the way to the time I was ten and I saw this scene for the first time. I think Henry did a pretty good job of explaining what "real love" is, although at that time I couldn't have understood. How lucky I am to have found someone that loves me the way that Carl loved Ellie and I hope he knows I love him the same way. How lucky we both are!
