On Wednesdays I leave the house at 7am to be at work at 9am in Barnegat Light. Last Wednesday this is what the sky looked like as I ventured into the yard. Gorgeous! I do not remember the exact conditions that allowed the fog to lay so thick against the ground that morning but I am grateful that I thought to capture this image. So happy I came across this little treasure this evening!

Saturday, in Manual Mode

As always, a work in progress. Loved the opportunity to spend time photographing nature coming to life in the spring. Isn't it magical? Sure hope these poor blooms survive the snow this week!

Yesterday Mark and I traveled with my mom to Longwood Gardens. I love to photograph the beautiful gardens, but yesterday I vowed to try shooting on manual mode. Here is a sampling of photos I took. They are not all terrific, but I think I am getting better!

Wedding Pictures!

Yippee! The 300 something photos I ordered, arrived today. My postman Trent did me well. Look at how nicely he wrapped the photos just in case of rain!

So glad to have them! I immediately sat down and started putting photos on the layouts I worked on over the weekend!

I actually did this layout on National Scrapbooking Day. I copied the idea for the layout from a kit that Eileen brought with her to scrap. The thin strip of patterned paper was just too busy as a 12 x 12 piece but it is perfect in a 1 inch wide strip. The paper is from SEI and the ribbon and butterfly lace paper were in my stash. How perfect! The sweet little violet flowers are by Prima and the little “Bliss” tag is from Ormolu. If you have not shopped Ormolu you must head over there. Soy inks, windpower and recycled paper, how much greener can you get?

I am cheating by including this layout here, but I did complete it on Saturday, but the photo was printed right here at home. Did I mention how much I love my HP B8500 printer? It has been a lifesaver when I just need to scrap something, NOW!

I just love this layout. It is an overview of our wedding day, from our late arrival at the Rosemary House to our dinner at the General Store Cafe. I just need to add the title. It will simply say, “April 22, 2011.” Perfect. 

The photos were ordered at Scrapbook Pictures. I love that they are quick, cheaper than printing at home, and the quality is much better than anything I have received from other online services. I think I have tried them all! I uploaded the photos on Saturday and Sunday and finally ordered the photos late Monday and here they are today! Usually I receive them within four days, but I did order well over 350 this time!

One of the best features of ordering from Scrapbook Pictures is the number of sizes they offer. I frequently order large prints and their quality is tremendous. I also love that I can order smaller sizes like 2” and 3” squares. They are perfect for this type of overview layout. They are now, also offering canvas prints and wood mounted prints. I just might have to consider that!

So many people were unable to make it to the wedding so I ordered many duplicates. Hoping, in my spare time, to make mini albums so that others have an opportunity to share in our happiness.

So many layouts, so little time! Cannot wait to get back downstairs to scrap! Color me happy!

Project Life, Week 8

This year is truly flying by. The past couple of weeks, as my schedule has gotten a little busier in the evenings, I have found it harder to but aside the time each night to journal. Perhaps it is because I have been so tired, but there are nights where five minutes just can’t be found. I must work on that because I find that the richest entries are written at the end of my day when the events, feelings and emotions of the day are fresh in my mind.

Week Eight was a very full week, as my weeks usually are.

I did take the time to sew over the weekend. Robin came over and we finished the top for her t-shirt quilt. Jason and I had dinner one night. Wow, it feels like ages since I last saw Jason, but Week Eight was actually February 19th through the 25th. Not all that long ago. I must be getting old!

The end of Week Eight brought rainy weather, a low pressure system and a massive headache for me that lasted 5 days. The bulbs were really sprouting by Friday and on Friday evening, between naps, I read Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I did everything to try and rid myself of the headache, but nothing worked!

Also, because of the headache, I was negligent in taking photos. In the grand scheme of things it really isn’t that much of an issue, but it was something that I noticed as I was pulling together the album and journaling cards. This week I will make sure that I put aside a little time each day to reflect on what transpired. It is a good way to end the day. It brings closure and it helps me to set the tone for a new beginning the next day, which for me, is very important!

Paying Attention

allowed me to catch a glimpse of the beautiful pink and blue colors of the sky on my way in to visit Jason in Philly this evening. Paying attention reminded me to carry my camera everywhere I go. Paying attention got me this great shot. 

Hmmm, perhaps I should pay attention more often!

Full Moon

I lost track of when the full moon is actually supposed to occur, but last night Mark caught a glimpse of the moon through the picture window in the loft. We both took out our cameras to try and catch a glimpse of its beauty. Who am I kidding, we were trying to capture a moment in time, digitally. My favorite shot is this one with the Christmas tree in the foreground. Jess says the moon looks like an airplane. I guess you will all need to take my word for it, it was the moon to be sure!
