Three Years Ago Today

I can’t believe that it was three years ago that these lovely ladies and I completed our first triathlon. Now my tri-buddy Jackie has moved to Alabama and Miss Kim is expecting her first baby. Boy oh boy do times change. We are making a plan to compete in a tri that we would all need to travel to. I am so excited and can’t wait to train again, here’s hoping that I get the okay from my doctor one of these days. The truth is, I miss training and competing. Actually, I miss feeling as well as I did just 3 years ago!

Swimming Again

Jackie and I ventured back to the pool this week. We tried to head back for training last week, but it was closed. Depressing. But this week, it was open and we swam. We swam just about 1/2 mile and it felt good. 

Easing back into our training, one sport at a time. Right at this moment, I have one tri scheduled in June and Jackie doesn't have any. We figure swimming is a good way to cross train and get ourselves back into shape for a full training in a way that is easier on our joints. Great for me; right now swimming is the one sport I can do that does not aggravate the pain I experience daily. And of course, the best part of swimming, hitting the hot tub afterward. 

We are heading back to the pool today, I just hope the hot tub is open!

Grand Illusion - Part 5

Call Me Crazy

The air is a bit nippy and my toes are freezing. Nevertheless, I am contemplating a trip to the gym. Yup, you heard correctly, this lady is heading to the pool. Call me crazy, but there is no time like the present to start preparing to jump off the Cape May Ferry. I am hoping that the water is warm and that the hot tub is working!

Don't get me wrong, I much prefer to spend a snowy evening inside. Actually, it is my favorite type of day to stay indoors. Since I have committed myself to jumping off the ferry, I had best get ready. Today is as good a day to start as any!

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 17

Day 17 - 30 Days of Gratitude: We made it back to the pool! Woohoo! My tri buddy and I did not look so thrilled, lousy photo, but seriously, it felt good to swim. Over 700 yards and then a dip in the hot tub, a wonderful way to end a chilly evening! I am so grateful for my tri-buddy, Jackie! Even though we were not able to "tri" this past season, we are gearing up for a wonderful 2015 in the tri world. Look out - here we come!

I Will Not Escape The Cape

But, I will be able to help. Today is packet pickup for Escape the Cape. Mark and I will be stationed to assist registered athletes as they gather their packets for tomorrow's event. 

Next year I will be amongst the athletes, this year I am just taking it all in!

Great Night for a Swim

Jackie and I were finally able to get together today to continue our training. It felt good to be back in the pool, even if it did follow a physical therapy session!

We had decided a while back, before I had gotten sick, that we would push ourselves to do a mile each workout. I am happy to say that we were successful, 1 mile down and I don't know how many to go. 

Bring on the season, we are ready to begin!

Mark did a terrific job of capturing not only the triathlon, but my emotions as well. It was a day I will never forget!

Transition

It is very unusual for me to be up and about before the sun comes up but, that was my reality today. It was truly a gorgeous sunrise in Wildwood as we prepared for the Tri and set up our transition areas!
